RUSKEE PORTERFIELD, LCSW

Lead Therapist

Your story matters—every part of it. Even the parts that feel confusing, overwhelming, or difficult to face. Ruskee creates a space where you can bring your full self into the room and begin to explore your experiences with honesty, compassion, and support.

She works with preteens, teens, and adults navigating trauma, eating disorders, dissociation, and emotional challenges—helping clients reconnect with themselves, build resilience, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.

About Ruskee

Ruskee Porterfield is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and lead therapist at Anchored Wellness & Psychotherapy in Atlanta. She is deeply committed to creating a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe, seen, and genuinely supported.

She believes that healing begins with understanding your story—not avoiding it. With a relational and collaborative approach, Ruskee helps clients explore both the challenges and strengths that shape who they are. Her work is grounded in the belief that growth often requires stepping outside of your comfort zone—but never doing so alone.

Areas of Focus

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Eating disorders and disordered eating

  • Dissociative disorders (including DID)

  • Anxiety and emotional overwhelm

  • Self-esteem, shame, and identity

  • Substance use and co-occurring concerns

  • Relationship challenges

Approach to Therapy

Ruskee takes a trauma-informed, integrative approach that blends evidence-based practices with experiential and relational work. Her approach is both supportive and growth-oriented, helping clients move beyond patterns that no longer serve them.

Her work incorporates:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Attachment-based and experiential therapies

  • Mind-body practices (yoga, breathwork, walk-and-talk therapy)

Ruskee believes that therapy is not only about processing pain—but also about building self-acceptance, reconnecting with your strengths, and learning to relate to yourself in a more compassionate way.

Who Ruskee Works Best With

Ruskee is a strong fit for individuals who are:

  • Processing trauma or complex emotional experiences

  • Navigating eating disorders or body image concerns

  • Experiencing dissociation or feeling disconnected from themselves

  • Struggling with shame, self-worth, or identity

  • Ready to engage in deeper, transformative therapeutic work

She works with preteens (10+), teens, and adults, offering care that is both developmentally attuned and highly individualized.

What to Expect

In your first session, Ruskee will take time to understand your story, your current challenges, and what feels most important for you to explore.

Together, you will:

  • Identify patterns and areas of concern

  • Clarify your goals for therapy

  • Begin building tools to support healing and growth

Her approach is collaborative, intentional, and paced in a way that allows you to feel both supported and challenged as you move forward.
